West Covina Foster Family Agency DBA Sunrise Horizon is a private non-profit home-finding agency licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services. The agency has served Los Angeles County since 1994 and continues to expand to better meet the growing needs of Southern California’s Departments of Children and Family Services.
How We Started?
In early 1992, Mrs. Singh saw the increased need to assist children out of group home care and into family settings. This led to the development of Sunrise Horizon, which opened its doors after licensure in June of 1994.
The Milestones We Achieved
The Agency started with three foster parents and fifteen children. Over the years, we have grown to have more than eighty homes and one hundred and fifty children.
In the past 17 years, the Agency has expanded it’s programs to include not only the Foster Care program, but also Group Homes for boys and girls, Short Term Residential Therapeutic Services, Mental Health Services, Adoptions program, and Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC) program for Special Health Care Needs that assist Medically Fragile Children and Severe Emotional Behavioural Needs.
How We Work?
We work with Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to provide foster care, adoptions, residential care, and mental health services to 0-18 years old foster youth and 18-21 years old non-minor dependents in our care.
– We recruit and approve foster/resource homes for foster youth placements.
– We reimburse our foster/resource parents’ initial and ongoing certification and approval expenses.
– We assist our foster/resource families with their transportation and visitation needs as necessary.
Our Donation Program
Sunrise Horizon believes that children who come from broken families can grow up as productive adults. A loving and supportive foster home can provide the foundation for children to become whole again.
General Children’s Fund
Donate to help us provide toys, games, crafts, school supplies, educational supplies, prom and graduation expenses, and fulfil other wishes of our foster children.
Kid’s Closet
Most children placed in foster care come to us only with the clothes on their back and shoes on their feet. Donate today to help us replenish their closet and make their adjustment into foster care a better experience.
Holiday Fund
Be a foster child’s Santa! Put a smile on a child’s face and watch their eyes light up when they get to open their favourite holiday toys. Your donation would go a long way in helping us fulfil our foster children’s Christmas and Santa wish lists.
